Alice Bradley was born to a blind mother, whose name is not recorded in family oral history. She was adopted by an uncle whose last name was Ross, which is why she then named her son Ross. Alice married Frank Oscar Linstrom, a farmer from Michigan. She worked as a teacher and was known for writing poetry. She also did seamstress work and ironing to supplement the family income.
